Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including, muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage Therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions.
A massage therapy session involves dressing down to your comfort level. Only areas to be worked on will be draped accordingly. Over the clothes massage is also an option, in which case oils and lotions are not used. A typical session involves the application of oils or lotions directly to the muscles for glide. All techniques are applied in accordance to one's full consent to treat, health history, current condition, comfort level, and the short term and long term treatment goal. A deep focus on controlled breathing and relaxation will be encouraged throughout the session. Post session involves recommendations for self-care, hydrotherapy applications, remedial exercise, and a treatment plan.
